AMERICAN RECYCLED follows brothers Tim and Noah Hussin as they bicycle 5,000 miles across the U.S. South over a period of two years, in a wildly poetic yet personally intimate experiment into scaling down, relocalizing, and connecting to community and land.

Volunteer at community bike shop in your town or city. One great example is The reCyclery, “an educational bike shop” in Asheville, North Carolina, that encourages people to learn the trade of bike repair while promoting sustainability along the way.
Make sustainable choices at home. Were you inspired by the intentional communities and off-grid living featured in the film? Fellowship for Intentional Community and Off-grid are both great places to learn more about living life with sustainability in mind.

In summer 2013, after graduating from college, I biked alone from Western Massachusetts to San Francisco. The journey took 74 days, 3,400 miles, and 7 flat tires. I didn’t wear bike shoes, never locked my bike once, never spent a dime on lodging, and never encountered a single bad person.
